That's right. I am emailing you post surgery. I've had my surgery and I am currently sitting here in the hospital living the "good life." Yeah right! I really am sitting here in the hospital, but it's the furthest thing from a good life. I will start from the beginning.
Went to the hospital and checked in at 5:30 am and they got the ball rolling. They wasted no time at all. Got all checked in, saw the Dr and he said that he got a good nights sleep and he was well rested (because he stayed at a Holiday Inn HA HA). Eric asked him if he was ready and he showed me his left hand and said he was not shaking, he had a few cups of coffee, etc. As he then proceeded to show his right hand shaking convulsively, that was the hand that he did the surgery with. He has a great sense of humor and I think very highly of him!
I remember going into the operating room on the bed all groggy, moving from one bed to the other and then lights out for Tana. I don't remember a thing after that. When I woke up in recovery, I remember distinctly that I could smell coffee from a mile away. I told the 2 nurses that were there, that I could smell it and I would love it if they would share. They said absolutely not. I then asked them if they could peek under my gown and tell me if I really did have cleavage. The nurse, lifted up my gown, peeked under, closed my gown, smiled and me and said, "You sure do!" At that moment, I smiled and went back to sleep for a few more hours. They wheeled me into my room where there awaited my knight and shining armor and dearest friend, Eric and Tammy. I could hear their voices, but couldn't quite focus on them. They both let me sleep and talked to me as I came in and out of sleep.
Saturday, I woke up and felt pretty good. I had the start of bed sores, as I was allergic to the tape they were using in the hospital and having it all rubbed along my back because I couldn't change positions. I was pretty doped up on the good drugs, had some visitors all day, and took lots of naps. On Sunday, it was pretty much the same thing. I didn't sleep as well the night before, but did get some sleep. Again, had more visitors, took naps, etc. I was in a little more pain on Sunday than I was on Saturday, but nothing major.
On Monday, I stopped taking drugs for the pain as I don't like how they make me feel during the day and really, I wasn't in that much pain. I think 3 Tylenol could have done me just fine, but really didn't need that. I had more visitors on Monday. I finally got to get up and take a walk down the hall to prove that i could stand up. I had to do that so I could get the pee drain out! Talk about being uncomfortable!
Today, Tuesday, I have gotten out of bed, took a shower, sat in the chair and am typing up on my blog. Thanks to a good friend, Katie, who helped me out so much by getting my computer up and running here at the hospital! I'm back on line. The Dr. came in today and said that he would let me go home tomorrow! I also got my IV taken out. My hand hurt so bad from having that in. He also said that I he would cut 3 drains out tomorrow, so I really only have to go home with 3! It was the best news in the world to hear all of that!
As for the surgery itself, it turned out much better than I thought it would. I don't look horrible like I thought I would. I also got a tummy tuck. I lost about 4 inches off of my tummy and gained a new boob! He has remarkable hands and made me look so good! I don't think that I will be going out and doing any swimsuit shopping anytime soon, but know that I have lost a lot of my tummy!
I wanted to thank everyone of you who have either stopped by, sent emails, flowers, prayers, well wishes, etc. It really helped me get through the long days here at the hospital!
A special thank you to my wonderful loving husband. Without you, I couldn't have done any of this. You are the most patient person I know of. You truly deserve dad and husband of the year. I love you with all my heart!
Love to you all,
Tana
Congrats on your new boob! I was thinking about you this weekend, and I am glad to here all went well. Can't wait to see how great you look!
